ITZY has dished on their comeback with the new album “KILL MY DOUBT”!
On July 31 at 6 p.m. KST, ITZY will release their new mini album “KILL MY DOUBT” along with the music video for the title track “CAKE.” Prior to their album release, ITZY sat down and chatted about their comeback and the new album.
When asked about the meaning of the new album title “KILL MY DOUBT,” Ryujin explained, “Like all people do, we also have doubts and insecurities within ourselves, and we wanted to convey the meaning that trusting and loving ourselves are only possible when we face and overcome all those doubts and anxieties. We wanted to tell many people as well as ourselves, “You’re doing fine, and you’ll do well.”
When asked about the unique charm of “KILL MY DOUBT” that is different from ITZY’s previous albums, Lia shared, “I would like to say that ‘KILL MY DOUBT’ is an album that brings out the many honest emotions within ourselves. Thus the album contains various vibes and emotions, and the diverse track list contains the distinct and unique charms of the five of us, which I think it makes it shine even more!”
The title track “CAKE” marks ITZY’s first time working together with Black Eyed Pilseung, a Korean duo consisting of producers Choi Kyu Sung and Rado. Yeji reminisced on working with Black Eyed Pilseung by sharing, “It is really amazing that they gave us a song. I think ‘CAKE’ could become our song more perfectly thanks to [Black Eyed Pilseung], who guided us while working together so that we could express [the song] in ITZY’s style and took great care by even visiting the set of our music video. We are really thankful!”
Yuna introduced the charming points of their title track by saying, “‘CAKE’ has so many charming points, but among them, I think the melody that cools off the heat is the key. It’s a song that has charms of a pleasant melody and lyrics that people can listen to comfortably!”
When asked about a type of cake that would describe their new song the most, Chaeryeong replied, “I hope this title track will be a light and enjoyable song that domestic and international fans can enjoy. Just like a fresh fruit whipped cream cake, I hope ‘CAKE’ will be a song that people will never get tired of and will keep thinking about!”
