Gong Hyo Jin may be starring in a new drama penned by writer Seo Sook Hyang!
On November 18, it was reported that Gong Hyo Jin was cast as the protagonist of screenwriter Seo Sook Hyang’s new space drama “Ask the Stars” (literal title). However, a source from Management SOOP clarified to YTN Star, “Gong Hyo Jin is reviewing the possibility of appearing in writer Seo Sook Hyang’s new project ‘Ask the Stars.'”
“Ask the Stars” will be produced by Keyeast and is South Korea’s first drama that takes place in outer space. Writer Seo Sook Hyang, a master of rom-coms, has been working on the project for three years. Labeled a “space station romantic comedy” between a space tourist and an astronaut, the production budget including the cost of building the space station set will reach over 40 billion won (approximately $33.8 million).
Gong Hyo Jin and screenwriter Seo Sook Hyang have already worked together twice through “Pasta” and “Don’t Dare to Dream (Jealousy Incarnate),” which were both successful.
Gong Hyo Jin’s most recent drama was the hit “When the Camellia Blooms,” which she won her first Daesang (Grand Prize) for at the 2019 KBS Drama Awards. She is currently appearing on the variety show “No Impact Day.”
