ENA’s upcoming drama “Namib” has shared a sneak peek of its first script reading!
“Namib” depicts the story of entertainment agency CEO Kang Soo Hyun (Go Hyun Jung) who first approaches the male trainee Yoo Jin Woo (Ryeoun) with bad intentions but gradually helps Yoo Jin Woo achieve his dream.
At the script reading, the cast greeted each other warmly, setting a friendly and inviting atmosphere. Once they began the reading, the actors fully immersed themselves in their roles.
Go Hyun Jung, portraying the star producer Kang Soo Hyun, brought her character to life, seamlessly transitioning between her professional role in the office and her personal life at home, naturally driving the drama forward. Before the reading, she worked closely with the staff on every detail to shape her character, building anticipation for her transformation.
Ryeoun, playing Yoo Jin Woo, a former long-time trainee, added depth to his character, who struggles with self-doubt despite his clear talent. To capture the essence of an idol trainee, Ryeoun incorporated subtle gestures, such as strumming a guitar and holding a microphone, throughout the reading, bringing energy and realism to his performance.
Yoon Sang Hyun, playing Shim Joon Seok, the husband of Kang Soo Hyun and a former music producer, brought his trademark realistic acting to the role, energizing the set. In scenes with music, he showcased his professional expertise, closing his eyes and feeling the rhythm.
Lee Jin Woo, portraying Shim Joon Seok and Kang Soo Hyun’s son Shim Jin Woo, plays a character with hearing impairment. During the script reading, he followed his fellow actors’ lip movements to deliver his lines, reflecting his character’s unique way of communication.
The standout chemistry between Go Hyun Jung and Ryeoun, who play mentor and mentee with different goals but a shared path, drew particular attention. Each time their tense and unstable characters clashed and reconciled, the actors made eye contact and adjusted their performances, showcasing strong teamwork. Meanwhile, the interactions between Go Hyun Jung, Yoon Sang Hyun, and Lee Jin Woo as a family with different dreams resonated with the audience, pulling them deeper into the story.
The drama has made a strong start, with the cast’s chemistry and attention to detail standing out during the script reading. Just as the title “Namib” suggests—a dramatic meeting of the desert and the sea—the harmony between the four lead actors is highly anticipated.
“Namib” is set to premiere on December 23 at 10 p.m. KST. Stay tuned!
