MBC’s upcoming drama “Please Send a Fan Letter” (literal translation) has shared a sneak peek of Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung in her starring role!

“Please Send a Fan Letter” is a new romantic comedy starring Sooyoung as Han Kang Hee, an A-list actress who winds up facing the greatest crisis of her career. Yoon Bak will star as Han Kang Hee’s first love Bang Jung Suk, a devoted single father whose young daughter is battling leukemia. In order to protect the pure heart of his daughter, who is a huge fan of Han Kang Hee, he winds up writing fake replies to her fan letters to the actress.

In the drama, Sooyoung’s character Han Kang Hee is such a popular star that her face seems to appears in every major advertisement in the nation. Although she’s been a widely recognized celebrity ever since her debut as a child actress, the higher she climbs in her career, the more people there are that want her to fall. As a result, the once cheerful and sunny actress becomes guarded and wary of others.

At a moment when Han Kang Hee finds herself heartbroken, with her recent dramas not doing so well, she unexpectedly falls into a major crisis: a malicious news report claims that she threw away letters she received from fans, putting her entire career at risk.

Newly released stills from the upcoming drama capture the contrasting sides of Han Kang Hee’s character. In one photo, she is the epitome of a glamorous celebrity, exuding confidence and poise as she makes a stylish arrival in an elegant white suit.

However, another photo captures the hidden vulnerable side of the outwardly self-assured star. Han Kang Hee is so shocked by something that she stops dead in her tracks, seemingly unable to move off as she looks off into the distance with a sorrowful, empty gaze.

The producers of “Please Send a Fan Letter” commented, “Actress Choi Sooyoung’s unique presence was absorbed fully into the character of Han Kang Hee, so you can safely look forward to her flawless transformation into the character.”

“As Han Kang Hee has been perfected into a character that only Choi Sooyoung can play, the character has become even more charming and impossible not to love,” they continued. “Please show lots of interest and anticipation for the first episode.”

“Please Send a Fan Letter” will premiere on November 18 at 9:50 p.m. KST, taking over the time slot currently occupied by “The Golden Spoon.”
