Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung Confirmed To Host HYBE’s New Girl Group Survival Show “R U Next?”

Upcoming survival program “R U Next?” will be hosted by Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung!

“R U Next?” is an audition program in which contestants will compete for the chance to debut in a new girl group under BELIFT LAB, the agency that is currently home to ENHYPEN. While BELIFT LAB—a joint venture between CJ ENM and HYBE—also determined the lineup of ENHYPEN through a survival show, “I-LAND,” back in 2020, both HYBE and JTBC have stated that “R U Next?” is a separate program that will be completely different from “I-LAND.”

According to JTBC, the contestants on “R U Next?” will be going through seven rounds of missions as they battle for a spot in the final lineup.

On June 15, it was confirmed that Sooyoung will be taking on the role of the MC of “R U Next?” Sooyoung shared, “While watching a lot of girl groups, I get shocked by the endless new plans and concepts, and I get even more shocked by their skills. Although the girl groups that are actively promoting now are my juniors, I am also their fan and an avid listener [of their music]. I am looking forward to and very excited to be able to keep a close eye and participate in the process of a new girl group being born.”

The production team shared, “Sooyoung is the perfect MC fit to relate to the situation that idol trainees are experiencing. She will do a great job as a reliable mentor and role model for the contestants who will be unfolding their dreams on a global stage.”

“R U Next?” will premiere on June 30 at 8:50 p.m. KST via JTBC.
