In this episode, Jeong-suk has to take care of her daughter’s art school fees while discovering her mother-in-law’s treachery.

Doctor Cha Episode 7 Recap

Last episode, we saw Roy Kim and Jeong-suk stuck holding each other, and he was supposed to tell her something important. At that exact moment, her mother-in-law walks in and sees the two of them in a position of embrace. While this is quite concerning, considering she is married, the mother-in-law starts interrogating both of them. He tells the mother-in-law he’s here only because he lives nearby and is passing by.

So whatever he was supposed to say is left unsaid. After all this, the mother-in-law took the time to explain to Jeong-suk that even though no one in the office knew about their marriage, she must remain decorous. When they walk home together, they see I-rang on the floor and all the art supplies beside her, with In-ho standing authoritatively. He is mad that no one told him his daughter is pursuing her art school dream.

Jeong-suk is explaining that in no universe, he would have been okay with it, so she didn’t want to crush her daughter’s dreams. However, In-ho is mad because he doesn’t believe that I-rang can be a good enough artist to sustain herself based on her talent. The father picks out a garbage bag and scoops up all of I-rang’s art supplies and pieces to throw in the trash. He then leaves to go to his room, where Jeong-suk comes in and posters him to let this go, but she also tells him that Seung-hi’s daughter is their daughter’s friend.

The tone is a little accusatory, and he deflects it deftly. But after this interaction, he goes to meet Seung-hi. Telling her all about this friendship sitch, he asks her how they should proceed because he cannot ask grown kids not to be friends with each other. Seung-hi explains that she recently found out and doesn’t think too much of it because they would grow apart as they went to university. We see a flashback from a conversation between Seung-hi and her daughter, where they discuss this friendship and how the daughter did it on purpose.

This is quite an isolating feeling for Seung-hi. Similarly, Jeong-suk feels alone because her partner is not supporting her in the one thing she asked for. In-ho said he would let I-rang go to art school if his wife quit working at the hospital. She explains that there is no logic to doing that. She would rather pay for her daughter’s school than quit her job at the hospital because this is her first taste of freedom. To give her daughter the best education, she stays ready to sell all her things if it means that she can send her to her dream school.

Moreover, things at the hospital are also running smoothly now, so there is no need to panic about her stability in the hospital. She is still incredibly annoyed that her son keeps following around this Doctor Jeon, and even though she is a senior, it doesn’t give her the right to boss him around.

She eventually discovers that he is dating the senior doctor and spirals further into a hole, imagining what it would be like to bring her home. However, she does come through when Jeong-suk needs a loan from the bank so she can pay for her daughter’s school fees. The overdraft account thing was a great idea. She goes to the bank and asks them for a loan but is reminded that she already has one on a property.

However, she gets a credit loan for her daughter’s fees and tells her that it is all done. If there was any doubt, not there shouldn’t be. Meanwhile, at the hospital, there is a patient who has been scheduled to have his stoma removed so he can defecate through his anus, but there is an issue because, during the surgery, they see that his frame is too narrow and there isn’t enough space to remove it. He is feeling extremely listless about this because he wants to have kids, give his wife a happy life, and this is not letting it happen.

Doctor Jeon checks up on him one last time, and Jeong-suk is on rounds when she feels like paging the psychiatry department. The aforementioned doctor dissuades her from this notion, but later, he is missing and on the roof, contemplating ending his life. Jeong-suk is up there and trying to get him to come down. That is when all the other doctors below start clamouring around the building to see what happens. There are air mats set up, which Roy Kim points out to In-ho, so there doesn’t seem to be a fire based on deduction.

The two of them run up to the roof when they realise it’s Jeong-suk up there. They reach in time, but the patient unpredictably jumps off the roof, and Doctor Cha, in an attempt to save him, falls along with him. Seeing her fall, they both freeze but see her on the mat, so it is not a problem. Scrambling to get to the bottom, In-ho shakes her, yelling at her to be careful, while Roy Kim comes in and immediately hugs her, causing a scandal in front of everyone gathered on the ground.

Doctor Cha Episode 7 Review

After exploring some realistic notions about what it is like to be in a household that respects only certain professions, it is brilliant that they explore that storyline with the daughter. Meanwhile, the reveals are all happening at the right time because it feels like the cheating storyline is a living, breathing secret that contributes to the story.

Additionally, the humour is top-notch once again, while the tension between the two characters has been amazing to see. Roy Kim and Jeong-suk don’t even have many scenes together, but their scenes are brilliant. We can see the vibes between them, and even now, the feminist ideals continue in the show. It would be exciting to see how they handle the hug in the next episode.
