Choi Hyun Wook has shared an apology for a recent controversy involving a video that captured him improperly disposing of cigarette butts on a public street.
Recently, a netizen uploaded a video of Choi Hyun Wook, who was spotted in Seoul’s Apgujeong Rodeo area. In the video, the actor was seen holding a woman’s hand while smoking a cigarette and subsequently tossing the cigarette butt onto the road where parked cars were situated, prompting criticism.
On October 5, Choi Hyun Wook personally apologized for his actions through his agency Gold Medalist, and shared a handwritten letter expressing his regret.
Gold Medalist also issued a statement regarding the situation, stating, “Recently, while engaging in a conversation with acquaintances on the street, Choi Hyun Wook smoked and improperly discarded his cigarette and did other careless actions that may have made others uncomfortable. Choi Hyun Wook acknowledges his mistakes and is deeply reflecting on his behavior. We extend our sincere apologies to all those who were disappointed.”

“Hello, this is Choi Hyun Wook.
First, I would like to express my apologies to the fans for causing disappointment. Despite the need to be responsible at all times, I have disappointed many people with my reckless actions.
I apologize once again to the drama director, writer, staff, fellow actors, and everyone I am working with. I will humbly accept the criticism and advice that you have given me, and I will reflect on myself and work hard to show a more mature side of myself in the future.”
