Call It Love (2023) Recap Episode 15

Apr 13, 2023

Episode 15 of Call It Love begins with Dong-jin walking the streets. He thinks about his conversation with his mother, how she begged him to for the will and he left anyway. She tries calling him but he doesn’t pick up. Dong-jin spots Woo-ju walking. He watches her sit on a bench, call her mother and talk about her father’s will. She tells her mother she doesn’t want to report Hee-ja to the police because of how much suffering it would cause Dong-jin. After she keeps the phone call, she turns to see Dong-jin standing there.

Side by side on the bench, Woo-ju wonders how much Dong-jin heard and what he’s doing here. Dong-jin tells her he found the original will and gives it to her, apologizing once again. When she doesn’t want to accept it, he encourages her to move back home and be happy as that would make him happy too.

Meanwhile, Hee-ja leaves Dong-jin’s apartment but can’t stop herself from coming back to wash a mug she left behind.

Woo-ju is surprised to hear that Dong-jin took leave from work. She fills the silence by talking about how she likes to walk. When they reach her house, he tells her that he’ll talk to the people who are buying the house.

Woo-ju enters the house and tells Ji-gu and Jun that she has something to say. As Hae-sung searches for more apartments, Woo-ju enters her room and shows her the will. It says that the house goes to Hae-sung and its rights belong to all the siblings. Hae-sung sobs on reading it.

Later, Hae-sung admits she cried because she felt sorry about everything that happened to them. Woo-ju wonders if everything will return to normal if they reclaim the house.

Dong-jin goes back home to find an empty apartment and a pile of folded laundry. Hee-ja tries to get the house buyers to send her the money sooner but it doesn’t work. Dong-jin meets with the house buyer at a café, who agrees to cancel the contract as long as they get their money back.

Jun, Woo-ju and Hae-sung meet with a lawyer and show him the real will. He suggests pressing charges on Hee-ja with fraud as it’s the fastest way to get the house back. They are unsure about how to proceed so Dong-jin messages Woo-ju and asks her to meet him. Woo-ju tells Jun and Hae-sung that she’s going to meet Dong-jin and ask him to persuade his mother to settle. If she doesn’t agree, then they can pursue legal action.

Sun-woo is happy to see Dong-jin back at work but soon realizes he has something to say. After hearing the whole story, Sun-woo finally understands what’s been happening. Then Dong-jin shocks him further by saying that he’s quitting the company. With his severance pay and company shares, he can pay the house buyers back.

Jun and Hae-sung go grocery shopping. On the way home, Jun tells Hae-sung how he and Woo-ju became friends. They used to take the same bus and they’d seen a woman and a man walk into an OB-GYN, but neither of them told anyone and that’s how they became friends. When Hae-sung asks him what he really means, he tells her to not be jealous. He heard Hae-sung crying the other night and wanted to hold her but couldn’t. At present, she begins to tear up again and he slowly holds her hand, prompting the pair to walk back home.

Dong-jin meets Woo-ju at a restaurant. When he says he’ll miss the place, Woo-ju tells him not to avoid it as she’ll be moving away anyway. Later, he tells her the problem with selling the house will be dealt with soon. He’ll try convincing his mother but if that fails Woo-ju should do as the lawyer says. Woo-ju admits she should have just told him everything in the beginning. He replies that he may not have reacted the same way and is doing all this so he can see her.

Hyun-ju goes to the house to talk to Hee-ja. Hyun-ju tells her about her interaction with Nam-il, revealing she’s only letting her off easy because of Dong-jin and how kind he is. She even pitied him for having to grow up with Hee-ja.

She leaves the house and comes face to face with Dong-jin. He apologises on behalf of his mother and even gets her a taxi.

Hee-ja gets a call from the police station. Turns out, Nam-il gave them the phone recording and accused her of stealing Sim Chul-min’s will.

Hyun-ju reaches Jun’s pharmacy and then they all head home together. She tells the kids not to take legal action as she doesn’t want them to go in and out of a courthouse. She even told Dong-jin the same and asked him to handle it.

Woo-ju tries calling Dong-jin but he doesn’t pick up. Hee-ja comes out of the bathroom in his apartment and he tells her they’ll go to the police station together the next day. She admits wanting to live a good life but never being able to live up to it. He says it’s not too late, she still can.

Sun-woo meets Min-young and asks if she’s thought about his proposal to work together, but she’s still thinking it over. When she asks why he’s so nice to her, he claims that he came back feeling guilty about what she had done.

Woo-ju enters the living room to find Hyun-ju, Jun and Hae-sung preparing food. She thinks about the previous night, when Hyun-ju had told her that time will go by and she’ll move on. She also asked Woo-ju to invite Dong-jin over for a warm meal. Hyun-ju asks where Ji-gu is and Jun reveals that he’s gone out to meet someone.

Ji-gu, meanwhile, is at a music store where Dong-jin is buying a guitar for him, despite Ji-gu’s protests. On the way back, Dong-jin stops by a flower shop and gets a bouquet. He arrives at the Sim house with the flowers in hand where Woo-ju is waiting for him outside. They smile at each other as the episode comes to a close.

The Episode Review

The strong emotional beats continue in this penultimate episode. Dong-jin works hard to make amends and, by the end, his mother seems convinced to try the right track as well. Hyun-ju’s arc leading her to stand against revenge and legal action was also done well, with Kim Hee-jung having some incredible screen presence.

Jun and Hae-sung coming together wasn’t quite as impactful as I hoped it would be. Min-young is a character I simply cannot redeem no matter how much the show, or Sun-woo, tries. Even Nam-il going to the police seems a bit at odds with his character, after all, what does he gain? But it’s a tiny snag in an otherwise good and emotionally consistent episode. My only other question is, why were Jun, Hae-sung and Woo-ju’s clothes all colour coordinated in a dull grey/beige combination?
