BTS’s Jungkook has made Spotify history with his official solo debut!
On July 14, Jungkook released his official solo debut single “Seven” featuring Latto, which immediately shot to the top of iTunes charts in numerous countries all over the world—and also achieved an impressive 24-hour view count with its music video starring Han So Hee.
The song has now set numerous new records on Spotify as well: “Seven” debuted at No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Top Songs charts after racking up an amazing 15,995,378 filtered streams on its first day alone.
Jungkook is now the first male artist from any country to surpass 15 million first-day streams with a new song on Spotify—and only the second overall, following Taylor Swift. Only two songs in Spotify history have ever managed to debut with higher first-day streams than “Seven”: Taylor Swift’s “Anti-Hero” and “Lavender Haze.”
In addition to achieving the highest number of first-day streams of any song by a male artist in Spotify history, “Seven” is also the first song by a K-pop soloist to debut at No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Top Songs chart. (Jungkook’s bandmate Jimin previously became the first K-pop soloist ever to top the chart with his debut track “Like Crazy,” but the song initially debuted at No. 2 before rising to No. 1 a day later.)
The instrumental version of “Seven” also debuted at No. 65 on Spotify’s Global Top Songs chart, while Jungkook’s previously released solo tracks “Still With You” and “My You” ranked No. 54 and No. 113 respectively.
Outside of Spotify, “Seven” debuted at No. 1 on Oricon’s daily digital singles chart (dated July 14) in Japan, and it also reached No. 1 on Melon’s Top 100 and several other realtime charts in Korea.
Congratulations to Jungkook on his historic achievements!
