The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has announced its latest batch of official certifications!
In 2020, the RIAJ implemented a new certification system for online streaming of songs, as an addition to its pre-existing certification systems for physical album shipments and digital download sales. According to the new system, songs are certified silver once they reach 30 million streams, gold at 50 million streams, and platinum at 100 million streams.
In the RIAJ’s newly announced batch of certifications, BTS’s 2020 hit “ON” was officially certified platinum after surpassing 100 million streams in Japan.
Meanwhile, Stray Kids earned official gold certifications for two of their songs—their 2023 title track “S-Class” and their 2021 track “Thunderous”—after they both surpassed 50 million streams each.
(G)I-DLE’s 2022 smash “TOMBOY” was also certified gold for surpassing 50 million streams in Japan.
Finally, SEVENTEEN went gold with three different songs: their 2022 title track “HOT,” their 2022 pre-release single “Darl+ing,” and their 2017 hit “CLAP,” all of which surpassed 50 million streams.
Congratulations to all of the artists!
