Ahn Bo Hyun has shared his grandmother’s adorable reaction to his on-screen romance in “Yumi’s Cells”!
On the February 4 episode of SBS’s “My Little Old Boy,” Ahn Bo Hyun made a guest appearance as a special MC. During the show, the actor revealed that his grandmother is the reason he tries to appear frequently in dramas that air on television, as opposed to programs that air exclusively on online streaming platforms.
“If I do an OTT [over-the-top] drama and wind up not appearing on TV for a year, my grandma thinks I’m starving to death,” he explained with a laugh. “She gets worried and offers to send me food.”
Ahn Bo Hyun went on to share that his grandmother often believed that what she saw on television was real. “There was a time when she called me while watching a scene where I got into a car accident,” he recalled. “She thinks [the drama] is a live broadcast. And when I played a villain in ‘Itaewon Class,’ there was a scene where my father hit me. That really seemed to make her heart ache.”
The actor then brought up his hit drama “Yumi’s Cells,” in which he and Kim Go Eun played a couple. “My grandma had never seen that side of me before,” said Ahn Bo Hyun. “After seeing my love scenes [with Kim Go Eun] for the first time, she became shy and told me, ‘That girl seemed really nice.’ So I realized, ‘Oh, Grandma thought that was real.’”
Ahn Bo Hyun added that his grandmother had even mentioned the possibility of his bringing Kim Go Eun to his hometown of Busan in order to meet her.
He recalled, “My grandma asked me, ‘Does she like sashimi? In case you happen to bring her to Busan…’”
