A Time Called You 2023 Episode 3

Episode 3 of A Time Called You begins with Min-ju being stuck in a strange cave. On a wall, she can see everything that Jun-hee can see. In the real world, Jun-hee wakes up in Min-ju’s body and thinks that Si-heon is Yeon-jun. She is confused as Min-ju keeps trying to talk but only she can hear it. In-gyu also stops by and she remembers him from Min-ju’s memories.

At some point, Jun-hee starts thinking that Min-ju’s memories are hers but she cannot hold back her true personality and her anger at her supposed mother and brother being apathetic to her accident. Turns out the brother just ransacked the house and ran away and the mother went after him.

She puts them in their place and everyone is scared of this new fiery Min-ju. The doctor’s only explanation is that she must be confused by the attack. It is then revealed that she isn’t hurt because of the car crash. She was hit with a blunt object and left bleeding in a field.

Meanwhile, In-gyu is angry with Si-heon – he followed them on the day of her birthday and heard him reject her. Si-heon is confused and In-gyu says if Min-ju was not angry with him she would have asked them for help instead of running out. At home, Jun-hee goes through Min-ju’s journal and wonders why she is gloomy and a loner. She also sees the boys’ gift and realises it is the same cassette player as the one she was sent in 2023.

Si-heon arrives with chicken and an apology for rejecting her on her birthday. He says they can be friends but she teasingly says she is setting boundaries. He is shocked at her brazenness and asks if she is someone else. She realises that he is right. She knows Do-hun is her brother but he feels unfamiliar. She also cannot fathom why she has such gloomy diary entries and feels it is someone else’s.

She also says that she would never confess to anyone prematurely and anyway she never gets rejected to which Si-heon scoffs. She calls him Yeon-jun again and annoyed, he asks her about it. She says that feels like she has woken up from a dream but her dream self where she is Jun-hee is slowly disappearing. She also tells him about her ‘dream’ life and relationship with Yeon-jun.

A flashback shows us Jun-hee and Yeon-jun getting to know each other after meeting in a library. He acts like they’ve known each other forever and they start hanging out. Interestingly, in one shot, she is reading a book titled ‘Lost in Time’ (like the Instagram account). 

Si-heon seems to be in a trance but turns out he is just in disbelief as he thinks Min-ju is so obsessed with him that she created a fantasy in her head where they are dating. Jun-hee is annoyed and they bicker. She retorts she will never like him and he is confused all the way home wondering how she can change completely. 

At home, she is strict with Do-hun but nice to her mom who likes this new Min-ju. In-gyu’s hearing aid is missing and so he wears an old one. Si-heon cannot stop thinking about Yeon-jun but he patches up with In-gyu. After school, he makes In-gyu go with him to help Min-ju figure out the accident. In-gyu is irritated with Si-heon but gets curious as he wonders if Min-ju saw someone.

The investigation is a bust as she doesn’t remember and calls Si-heon Yeon-jun who is annoyed with her constant memory loss. In-gyu feels left out with their bantering and Si-heon makes it worse by telling him to ask her as he doesn’t understand it.

After Si-heon leaves, he pesters her till she gives the short version. In-gyu tells Min-ju he likes her and hopes he still has a chance as she likes Yeon-jun, not Si-heon. At school, he used to observe that she was always alone while Si-heon would never let him be alone. He wants to be a friend like that for Min-ju. She is flattered but not interested, but he tells her not to respond yet.

Later, she writes in her journal that everything is getting back to normal and the dream is going away. But the real Min-ju is still stuck in that mental cave. 

The day the photograph was taken arrives as Si-heon plays with the Uncle’s camera. He is teased till the Uncle offers to take a photo of the trio. In another entry, she writes that she doesn’t feel like Jun-hee anymore. But she cannot forget Yeon-jun as she keeps thinking about him. Elsewhere, Si-heon puts the trio’s photo on his wall and we see that he is also an artist like Yeon-jun.

A few days later, she and her uncle are bickering about her taste in music when the cops arrive. They show her a hearing aid at the crime scene and she recognises it as In-gyu’s. Suddenly she remembers someone pushing her off the road before the car could hit her on the day of the accident. But then the guy takes her to the abandoned field and she fights back. She tries to run but he hits her with a pole.

Her vision blurs and all she can see is a guy in their school uniform. She comes back to 2023 as the bus driver wakes her up. She wonders if her living Minju’s life was a dream and the scarred guy watches as she goes home. At home, she realises that her texts to Yeon-jun have been read and she calls his number. After a while, someone picks up.

The Episode Review

Is Jun-hee the only one with a brain cell? Why is In-gyu mad at Si-heon for rejecting Min-ju? Bruh Si-heon has always been rooting for you two! And Si-heon is the clown of the group, we have always known that. His reaction to Jun-hee’s ‘dream’ is very Si-heon. But does this mean she goes back into the past every time she listens to the cassette? And why is the scarred guy stalking her?

If he is Yeon-jun, shouldn’t he approach her? It is also suspicious that Min-ju’s uncle tells Jun-hee he doesn’t know the boys when they hang out almost daily in his shop and he even takes their photo.

And finally, we get some comedy in episode 3 of A Time Called You. We also see the person Jun-hee was before Yeon-jun died. She doesn’t take anyone’s bullshit and says whatever is on her mind. Definitely an upgrade from Min-ju if you ask us. Oh boy, does this mean Si-heon is going to fall for Jun-hee?
