The Blue Dragon Film Awards will be returning for its 42nd ceremony next month!
The 42nd Blue Dragon Film Awards has been confirmed to be taking place on November 26 at the Yeouido KBS Hall. Starting on October 6, the awards show will be recruiting nominees for its Cheong Jeong Won Short Film Award.
The Blue Dragon Film Awards were first launched in 1963 to promote the development of the domestic film industry. The awards have built up public trust with its fair and transparent judging and established itself as one of the best awards shows in South Korean film. This year’s awards will also be a celebration in which the major players in South Korean film share comfort and hope for an industry that has been hard-hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Cheong Jeong Won Short Film Award is part of the Blue Dragon Film Awards’ mission to discover and introduce projects with fresh perspectives and individuality from the next generation of directors who will become the future of Korean cinema. The Cheong Jeong Won Short Film Award is open to any Korean nationals and foreigners who are residing in Korea, including international students. Any film that is 40 minutes long or less that was completed after November 1, 2020, is eligible for consideration. Submissions will be accepted from October 6 to October 15 and the finalists will be selected fairly by a jury of film experts. The winner will be announced at the 42nd Blue Dragon Film Awards ceremony, with a trophy and a small monetary prize.
The 41st Blue Dragon Film Awards took place in February 2021, having been pushed back from its original December 2020 date due to a surge in COVID-19 cases in South Korea during that time.
