Get ready for the highly-anticipated premiere of “Lovely Runner”!

Based on a popular web novel and penned by “True Beauty” writer Lee Si Eun, “Lovely Runner” is a new time-slip romance drama that asks the question: “What would you do if you had the opportunity to save your ultimate bias?” Kim Hye Yoon stars as Im Sol, a passionate fan devastated by the death of her favorite star Ryu Sun Jae (Byun Woo Seok), who goes back in time to save him.

Ahead of the premiere, tvN’s “Lovely Runner” unveiled four reasons to anticipate the upcoming romance drama!

“Lovely Runner” follows the story of passionate fan Im Sol who goes back in time to the year 2008 in order to save her bias Ryu Sun Jae, who helped her survive a difficult period of her life. The drama will be helmed by director Yoon Jong Ho of “Times” and “Flower of Evil” and penned by scriptwriter Lee Si Eun of “True Beauty,” raising even more anticipation for the drama.

Director Yoon Jong Ho shared, “When I first came across the script, I became sucked in [to the story] and enjoyed reading it. With scriptwriter Lee Si Eun’s trademark comedy and romance as well as a tight storyline, this is a project that any director who enjoys rom-com would want.”

After Im Sol goes back in time, she will struggle to change Ryu Sun Jae’s fate, raising viewers’ anticipation for the romance that develops in the process. Already, Byun Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon have garnered viewers’ attention for their chemistry as well as their height difference.

Regarding casting for the role of Ryu Sun Jae, director Yoon Jong Ho explained, “As the one in charge of the drama’s visuals, Byun Woo Seok had to have the physique of a swimmer as well as the aura of a top star and be an actor who could portray [a character] in their teens as well as in their 30s.” On Kim Hye Yoon, director Yoon Jong Ho added, “For the character Im Sol, scriptwriter Lee Si Eun chose Kim Hye Yoon and wrote [the script]. If Kim Hye Yoon rejected the offer, I don’t think this drama could have happened.”

Song Geon Hee, N.Flying’s Lee Seung Hyub, Jung Young Joo, Kim Won Hae, and Song Ji Ho will be adding even more strength to “Lovely Runner” with their performances. Song Geon Hee will be playing the handsome bassist Kim Tae Sung, showcasing his rebellious charms and forming a love triangle with Im Sol and Ryu Sun Jae.

Lee Seung Hyub will play Baek In Hyuk, who plays a pivotal role in Ryu Sun Jae’s past and present as his close friend who is like family and the leader of Eclipse, the group Ryu Sun Jae is a member of. As N.Flying’s leader and guitarist, Lee Seung Hyub will also impress as Eclipse’s Baek In Hyuk.

On top of this are veteran actors Jung Young Joo and Kim Won Hae, who will play Im Sol’s mother Park Bok Soon and Ryu Sun Jae’s father Ryu Geun Deok, respectively. Jung Young Joo will portray a tough yet loving mother while Kim Won Hae will portray a father who had to raise his son alone. Song Ji Ho will play Im Geum, Im Sol’s childish older brother who uses money for college to sign up for acting school.

Director Yoon Jong Ho shared that the story will follow the sweet and emotional romance of two people who could not meet as they go back to their youth and find love. The director added, “The strength of this drama is that viewers can watch both the fresh teen romance as well as the romance of adults in their 30s. While Im Sol moves between past and present, there are unexpected twists as well as comedy,” sharing that Ryu Sun Jae’s and Im Sol’s narratives will be interesting points to watch out for.

Byun Woo Seok remarked, “In current time at the age of 34, Sun Jae is Sol’s bias, and at 19-years-old in the past, Sol becomes Sun Jae’s bias, and the two become intertwined through the fate of saving one another, which will be a point to distinguish [the drama].”

“Lovely Runner” will premiere on August 8 at 8:50 p.m. KST and be available on Dramacool.
