With just 10 days left until the premiere, viewers are already getting excited for MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama “The Item”!
Based on the popular webtoon of the same name, “The Item” will tell the story of a man and a woman that set out to uncover the secrets behind several mysterious objects with supernatural powers. Joo Ji Hoon will star as Kang Gon, a hot-headed prosecutor who becomes entangled in the mystery while attempting to save his beloved niece, and Jin Se Yeon will star as Shin So Young, a talented criminal profiler who remains perfectly composed even when faced with the most horrific of crime scenes.
Here are three things to look forward to in the upcoming fantasy thriller:
1. A star-studded cast of talented actors
Not only are viewers excited to see the chemistry between leads Joo Ji Hoon and Jin Se Yeon, but the drama also boasts an exceptionally strong supporting cast. Kim Kang Woo will deliver a chilling performance as sociopath Jo Se Hwang, while Kim Yoo Ri will keep viewers on their toes as she walks the line between good and evil.
The drama’s cast also includes actors Park Won Sang, Lee Dae Yeon, Kim Min Kyo, Oh Seung Hoon, Choi Jin Ho, Lee Jung Hyun, and more.
2. An intriguing, unique plot
Several of the drama’s cast members have mentioned that they were drawn to “The Item” because of its exciting and unusual subject matter: the idea of ordinary objects with magical powers that have life-and-death consequences.
Furthermore, the webtoon was expertly adapted for the screen by Jung Yi Do, the acclaimed writer behind OCN’s hit drama “Save Me.”
3. A cinematic, larger-than-life drama
The producers of “The Item” have promised that viewers will be blown away by the scale of the production, describing the drama as a “fantasy blockbuster.” They remarked, “The new genre of fantasy blockbuster will satisfy the expectations of viewers who have been thirsting for new, refreshing dramas. Within the large scale [of the production] lies a relatable story, and we will also be sure to capture the nuanced emotions of the characters.”
“The Item” premieres on February 11 at 10 p.m. KST and will be available with English subtitles on Dramacool.
