SBS’s “Our Beloved Summer” is diving into its second half!
“Our Beloved Summer” is about ex-couple Choi Woong (Choi Woo Shik) and Guk Yeon Soo (Kim Da Mi), whose relationship did not end on good terms. Years later, the documentary they filmed in high school suddenly gains popularity, and they’re forced to be together in front of the camera once more.
After experiencing a difficult breakup and reuniting five years later, Choi Woong and Guk Yeon Soo have gone through a roller coaster of emotions together. With the one-sided crushes harbored by Kim Ji Woong (Kim Sung Cheol) and NJ (Noh Jung Ui) thrown into the mix, the tangled up relationships between them are growing more complicated as the drama enters its second half.
Here are three key points to look out for in the upcoming episodes!
Considering how Choi Woong greeted Guk Yeon Soo with a dousing of water when she first showed up at his house to discuss business, as well as how the pair all but ran away when it was suggested that they film a follow-up to their documentary, one would think that their relationship was doomed.
However, the feelings that both of them had worked so hard to suppress began to float to the surface, leading both of them into a cycle of regretting and running from their emotions. A turning point in their relationship then arrived when they were dragged into going on a trip together and began to recall some nostalgic memories. As they faced each other in the rain, Choi Woong suddenly planted a kiss on Guk Yeon Soo’s lips, signaling his possible willingness to confront the flurry of emotions that had been surrounding the pair for so long. All eyes are upon the couple and whether or not they will work through their lingering feelings and arrive at a new chapter of their relationship.
After Kim Ji Woong took on Choi Woong and Guk Yeon Soo’s documentary, the feelings towards Guk Yeon Soo that he had harbored for no less than 10 years began to re-surface. Although he had once called himself an “observer” who watches others from behind the camera, little by little he began to change his attitude. He once told Choi Woong, “The more I film you the more confused I get. I don’t know if the way you look at Guk Yeon Soo is became of the discomfort of your past,” then caught himself before he said anything more.
Meanwhile, viewers have also been intrigued by NJ’s straightforward hints about her feelings for Choi Woong. The idol confessed to him in a confident way as she said, “I’m not saying I love you or that we should date or that this is a confession, I’m just saying that I like you.”
As both Guk Yeon Soo and Choi Woong have caught onto the feelings harbored by Kim Ji Woong and NJ, viewers are anticipating how the relationships between all four of them will change.
So far, the drama has given viewers a glimpse at the past through the eyes of the different characters, although there are still missing pieces. As the drama enters its second half, the puzzle of the past will get closer to completion as the stories of love, friendship, family, and reality are revealed. These stories are certain to bring viewers to both laughter and tears as they add an even more immersive element to the drama.
The next episode of “Our Beloved Summer” airs on January 3 at 10 p.m. KST.
